Volleyball Signs Cuba-Rushford Standout, Scott

HOUGHTON,
N.Y. – Leah Scott (Cuba, NY/ Cuba-Rushford) has signed a
national letter of intent to play volleyball at Houghton College, Highlander
coach Nancy Cole announced today.
Scott comes to Houghton College as
a two-time 1st Team All-Allegany County selection in 2005 & 2006
and was voted Co-MVP for Allegany County and
Expressway Conference Co-MVP in 2006. She finishes her varsity
career at Cuba-Rushford Central School with a 37-23 overall
record including 112 aces, 330 kills, 120 blocks, and 84 digs.
She walks away currently holding two single season records for
most kills in a single season with 214 (2006-07) and most blocks
in a single season with 60 (05-06).
For
her club team the "Cobra Nationals" she enjoyed four tournament
championships in 2005-06 including the; WNY Winter Volleyball
Tournament; EPIC Volleyball Classic Tournament; Yorktown
Volleyball Club Invitational and Niagara Frontier Tournament. In
2006-07 her team won the prestigious Adidas First Coast Festival
in Jacksonville, FL.
"We are really excited that Leah
will be part of the team next fall," said Highlander head coach
Nancy Cole. "She should be an immediate impact player in the
middle position. Leah will be huge at the net for us and I am
excited to see what she will bring offensively. She is a great
fit with Houghton and our program."
Leah is the Daughter of Frank and
Cheryl Scott. She anticipates majoring in Secondary Education
and Mathematics.
Houghton College
