Men's Basketball Signs Houseman

Houghton, NY-
Jared Houseman (Munnsville, NY/ New Life Christian) has
signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Houghton College,
Highlander coach Brad Zarges announced today.
Houseman a 6'4" F, comes to Houghton College
after completing a four year varsity career at New Life Christian racking up
1064 points, 702 rebounds, 121 blocks, and 107 steals. He led his team in
scoring his senior season averaging 19.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 1.7
steals and shooting 57.4% from the floor.
Jared was selected as a
NYSCPHS All-Star Team, NCAC First All-Star Team and Binghamton Blaze Winter
Tournament Varsity Boys All-Star. He leaves New Life Christian ranked second in
points in a career, third in rebounds in a career, and second in blocks in a
career. He also holds the current scoring title for most points in a game
scoring 38 points.
"We are looking forward to having Jared join our program. He brings a great
attitude and enthusiasm. Jared plays hard whenever he is on the floor," said
Highlander Head Coach Brad Zarges. "We expect that Jared will need some time to
develop his skills and his strength to match his work ethic."
Houseman is a stand out
in the classroom being selected as a "Who's Who Among American High School
Students" and receiving a USAA National Leadership Merit Award. He is
also a National Honor
Roll member, and a recipient of the 2006 Sage Arts Award worth over $10,000
towards his college education every year.
Jared is the Son of Daniel
and Anne Houseman. Jared anticipates majoring in Business Management.
Houghton College
