Volleyball Beats Robert Morris But Falls
To Trinity
International
Upland, In. -
The women's volleyball team split today on the opening day of the Taylor
Trojan Challenge at Taylor University. The Highlanders beat Robert
Morris College 3-1 (30-19, 30-22, 26-30, 30-28) but fell against Trinity
International 3-0 (25-30, 28-30, 27-30).
Holly
Motheral paced the Houghton offense against Robert Morris
College, putting down 23 kills and 5 blocks.
Megan
Phipps led the team in assists with 39 and 19 digs. On
defense,
Stefanie Swanson continued her strong
play in the back row with 26 digs, while
Leah
Scott led the with a career high 12 blocks. Freshmen
Darby
Emerson continues to put up impressive numbers on both sides
of the ball recording 11 kills, 20 digs and 3 aces tonight.
Against Trinity International,
Lenore
Basset continued her strong play for the Highlanders,
pounding 10 kills and one block. Setter
Megan
Phipps directed the offense with 39 assists, while
Darby
Emerson had another outstanding all-round game recording 11
kills, one block and 18 digs.
Splitting today, Houghton improves their record to 6-8. The team will
move into the Bronze Division of the Taylor Trojan Challenge with their
next opponent TBA tomorrow.
