Houghton Lets One Slip Away, Roberts Wins 3-1

Houghton, N.Y. The Houghton College volleyball team let one slip away tonight in their AMC North Division opener against Roberts Wesleyan College, losing 3-1 (30-26, 25-30, 23-30, 20-30).

 

The Highlanders led in game two after taking a close first set, but couldn't hold the lead for the rest of the match. Houghton rallied point for point in every set, but could not close out the sets allowing Roberts Wesleyan to take their first conference win of the season

 

Roberts Wesleyan improves to 6-10, 1-0 in AMC play. The Highlanders fall to 7-10, 0-1 in AMC play.

 

Megan Phipps had another solid night producing 35 assists. Darby Emerson posted a career-high 18 kills and 14 digs. Holly Motheral tallied 10 kills, Leah Scott had four blocks and Brianne Brubaker added 24 digs for the match.

 

The Highlanders will face Carlow College at 11:00 am and Notre Dame College at 3:00 pm in an AMC North Division Tri-Match on Saturday, September 22.
