Houghton Women's Volleyball Honored By AMC

 

Houghton, N.Y.-   Three members of the Highlander volleyball team--Holly Motheral, Darby Emerson and Stefanie Swanson--were recognized by the American Mideast Conference (AMC) this week.

Motheral is a dynamic hitter and continued to display her  leadership ability and intensity on the court. "Our players  fed off of her excitement by the way she dominates the net," said Highlander Head Coach Nancy Cole.
Motheral averaged a team-high 3.8 kills per game, ranked eight in the AMC in hitting percentage with 0.32 and was named to the Roberts Wesleyan College Tournament All-Tournament Team.

"Stefanie showed great ball control and read the opponents offense well. She has been a huge asset to us in the backrow and will be hard to replace next fall," said Highlander Coach Nancy Cole.

Swanson ranked 30th in the NAIA in digs, averaging 6.03 per game, including eight American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) "30-dig Club" performances this season. She was also selected to the Houghton College Volleyball Tournament All-Tournament Team.

"Darby is an explosive leaper and became our most reliable all-around player. It will be exciting to see her continue to develop," said Highlander Coach Nancy Cole. 

Emerson ranked 13th in the AMC in digs, averaging 4.4 per game and was selected to the Houghton College Volleyball Tournament All-Tournament Team and Taylor Trojan Challenge All-Tournament Team this season.

 

 

 

 

 

The Highlanders completed the 2007 season with a11-22 overall recordgoing 3-11 in AMC North Division play.
