                   Tornadoes Take Highlanders by Storm

Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva’s women’s basketball team showed why they are one of the AMC North Divison’s top teams tonight easily defeating Houghton 74-45. The Golden Tornadoes are now 5-1 in the AMC North Division and 12-3 for their overall season. 

The women shot poorly from the field registering 32% from the field and 23% behind the arch. The Golden Tornado’s out-rebounded the Highlanders 27-43 controlling most of the action inside. The Highlanders also fell on hard times after losing Jessica Smith (Fr. Middleport, NY) to a rolled ankle injury in the second half.  

Leah French (Fr. Owego, NY) led Houghton with 13 points. And Cassie Merrill (Jr. Houghton, NY) followed just behind her with 10 points.   

The Highlanders are now 7-8 overall and 3-4 in the AMC North Division. Houghton will look to improve their record tomorrow Saturday, January 20th when the contest Seton Hill University away at 5:30 PM.
