Cleveland,
OH
–
For the second time this season the Highlanders tamed the Myers University
Mustangs tonight 89-81. The Highlanders took the lead over the Mustangs and were
sent to the free throw line late in the game as they held an 8 point lead for
the victory.
On the
night, the Highlanders controlled the ball well by out rebounding the Mustangs
38 to 23 and shooting 56% from the field.
The
Highlanders were led by Mada Abdelhamid (Fr.
Auckland, New Zealand) who registered his second double-double of this
season scoring 20 points and snagging 11 rebounds versus the Mustangs. Luke
Mortenson (Sr. Greenville, NY) led the Highlanders in scoring with 24
points while also registering 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Corky McMullen (Sr. Castile , NY) scored 19
points while going 11 for 12 on Free Throws and assisting on 3 baskets.
Yannick Anzuluni (Fr. Ottawa, ON) scored 10
points and snagged 8 rebounds while Allen Goodman
(Sr. Citra, FL) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds on the night.
“Throughout the week we worked on finishing the game on the Free Throw line by
making the shots which came into a real game situation tonight versus Myers. We
were able to stop the Mustangs attack by possessing the ball well and executing
what we learned. The result was a victory however, we must move on and focus on
our next opponent the #1 AMC North division team, the Notre Dame Falcons,” said
Head Coach Brad Zarges.
The
Highlanders look to improve on their 8-10 overall record and capture their first
conference win of the season on Saturday, January 27th versus AMC
North division Notre Dame College with the tip-off at 3PM.
