Highlanders
Fight to End Falling to Red Raiders, 67-72

N.Y. –
The Highlanders played in front of a packed out sea of purple and gold at the
Nielsen Center tonight. The night was a battle between two neighboring schools
that fought aggressive against each other only to leave the Highlanders on the
losing end, 67-72.
The
Highlanders were outplayed in the first half by the score of 41-25 allowing the
Red Raiders to take a comfortable lead dominating the Highlanders interior
defense that could stop any close shots. The Highlanders outplayed the Red
Raiders in the second half stepping up the offensive effort by the score of
42-31, however their defense could not stop the Red Raiders from keeping the
game out of reach.
On the
night overall, the Highlanders shot 46.4% from the field and shot 48% from the 3
point line. The Highlanders were out-rebounded by the Red Raiders, 39-24.
Luke Mortenson
(Sr.
Greenville, NY)
led the
Highlanders in the scoring and rebounding category by posting 19 points and
snagging 5 rebounds on the night. Rimgaudas
Valaitis (Sr. Silute, Lithuania) posted 14 points on the night going
4 for 5 from the 3 point line.
Jon VanSkiver
(Jr.
Campbell, NY)
led the
Highlanders in assists by assisting on 4 plays in tonight’s action.
Yannick Anzuluni (Fr. Ottawa, ON) posted 10
points, snagged 4 rebounds and blocked 2 Red Raider shots.
The
Highlanders next game is at home on Friday, February 2nd versus AMC
North division Point Park University with the tip-off at 6PM. The game will be
