Houghton Women Beat the Bengals, 64-45 

(Houghton, N.Y.)—The Houghton College women’s basketball team beat the University of Maine—Fort Kent (UMFK) Bengals 64-45 at the Nielsen Center Wednesday night.

             Houghton led 7-0 after the first three minutes, 18-6 at the ten-minute mark and 37-20 at the half.

            Leah French (left) led the Highlanders with 18 points while Shannon Daugherty and Ashley Dupler each had ten. Everybody on the team played at least ten minutes and ten of Houghton’s 13 players scored.

            Arcilla Jeffers led the Bengals with 12 points and added eight rebounds. Ashley Ames had nine points and 10 boards for UMFK.

            The win puts Houghton at 6-5. The Highlanders travel to Euclid, Ohio, to play Ursuline on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
