Assistant men’s basketball coach Andrew (Drew) Hannan comes to Houghton after earning his master’s degree in education from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, where he worked as a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball team.

The team at Walsh went 26-5 and 28-6 the last two years, winning the AMC Championship and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen of the NAIA’s national tournament both seasons. As part of the staff, Hannan coached three All-American players and three players that are playing professionally.

Hannan has also coached an 8th-grade team in Covington, Ky., and worked at numerous camps, including those at the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University.

Hannan played basketball at NCAA Division I Youngstown State University and was a member of the 1997-98 team that went 20-9 and fell one game short of making an appearance in the NCAA tournament, losing to Valparaiso in the conference championship.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in international business, summa cum laude, from Youngstown State.

In addition to his duties with the basketball team, Hannan is the Highlanders’ assistant sports information director.
