"I think the bottom line is that it shows how much improvement this team has made," said Highlanders coach Dwight Hornibrook. "There is a special hunger in this team. The seniors have been producing solid efforts. You just have to be pleased."
Houghton (10-1-1) jumped out on top in the ninth minute when John Ames (Hilton, N.Y.) chested in a corner from Brad Clodfelter (Winston Salem, N.C.) for his first goal as a Highlander. Clodfelter just missed registering his own goal with a 40-yard shot that Lakers keeper Mike Franks just tipped off the crossbar and out of play in the 20th minute.
Trevor Eby (New Holland, Pa.) put Houghton up 2-0 just three minutes later, taking a back-heel pass from Brett Norton (Charlottetown, PEI, Canada) and ripping a shot just inside the left post from 25 yards out on the right.

Houghton 5, LeMoyne 4
The rain-soaked field had nothing to do with the sloppy play Tuesday night as the Highlanders escaped with a 5-4 win over LeMoyne.
Houghton (8-1-1) had several defensive lapses in the first half, falling behind 2-0 in the game’s first 26 minutes. The offense finally started clicking thanks to substitute Patrick King (Albion, N.Y.) who tallied his first career goal off an assist from Trevor Eby (New Holland, Pa.) in the 32nd minute. Andy Walton (Emmaus, Pa.) evened the score 11 minutes later off assists from Eby and Mike Wheelhouse (Grand Falls, NB, Canada).
King rebounded a shot that Brett Norton (Charlottetown, PEI, Canada) ripped off the keeper for his second of the night to put Houghton up 3-2 in the 63rd minute. But that lead didn’t last, as LeMoyne’s Scott Newman scored his third of the game to knot the game at three. He redirected a nice cross from Eby in the 71st minute and then returned the favor for Eby’s third goal of the year in the 73rd minute to close the scoring.
