Kevin Austin
Assistant Coach
1st Season

Austin, an NAIA All-American in his playing days, returns to his alma mater after serving as senior pastor at Long Lake (N.Y.) Wesleyan Church since 2003. During his time there he served as boys' assistant varsity coach in basketball, soccer and baseball for Long Lake Central School.

Austin brings a wealth of collegiate experience to the table, having helped Houghton College to two National Christian College Athletic Association national soccer championships in 1979 and 1980. More recently he was head of the Global Partners/Wesleyan Church Sports Ministries, overseeing the "Isaiah 6 Project" in recruiting college students and youth workers for sports - specific ministry trips to Germany and to the Czech Republic.

His sports ministry background includes over 20 years managing missions organizations through 19 countries and over 200 sporting events overseas. He also played semi- professional soccer in Germany from 1991-94 and was in charge of youth development for his club team from 1994-95.

In his new position, Austin will assist Lord with the coaching and administration of the women’s basketball program, oversee special projects for athletics and work closely with the admissions office at Houghton College.
