Women's Soccer Looks Deep
(8/19/2008) (Houghton, N.Y.)--One word keeps coming up every time Head Coach Dave Lewis talks about his 2008 team: deep. “We’re deep in just about every position,” Lewis says, “I’ve got four or five players who can play each spot effectively.” A look at the roster confirms Lewis’ evaluation: there are 30 uniformed players and three more players who will practice with the squad—all of which creates some problems for Lewis. “It will be difficult determining who starts and who travels with the team,” he acknowledges; then he can’t help but smile and add, “That’s a good problem to have.” Not that there won’t be challenges.

Cleaves Will Play Women’s Soccer
(5/11/2008) (Houghton, N.Y.)—Stephanie Cleaves, a native of Lancaster, Pa., has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at Houghton in the fall. Cleaves will transfer to Houghton after playing at NCAA Division II schools Philadelphia University and Millersville University.

Gabree Joining Women’s Soccer Team
(5/7/2008) (Houghton, N.Y.)—Nicole Gabree has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at Houghton College. Gabree, a native of Buford, Ga., will transfer after a year at Mars Hill (N.C.) College, an NCAA Division II program.

Player of the Year Button Signs with Houghton
(5/2/2008) (Houghton, N.Y.)—Kaylyn Button, the Big 30 Co-Player of the Year in 2007, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Houghton College women’s soccer team in the fall. Button piled up 78 goals and 56 assists in her career with Portville Central School, despite missing most of her junior year with a broken collarbone.
