Athletic Training
Mission
The Houghton College
Athletic Trainers seek to provide medical services;
including the prevention, evaluation, care and
rehabilitation of athletic injuries to the physically
active, with priority given to the intercollegiate
student-athletes of Houghton College.
Services
Houghton's athletic
training staff primarily serve Houghton's
intercollegiate athletes
and opponents (see: Services
to Visiting Teams)
and the Houghton student body, providing evaluation,
treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. Treatments
feature the use of hot/cold modalities (ice/heat packs),
ultrasound, electrical stimulation and whirlpool
therapy, among others.
A team physician has
appointments in the Training Room for athletes once a
week, and athletes are often referred out for further
medical treatment when needed (Orthopedic, Physical
Therapy).
Training
Room
The
training room is
located between the men's and women's locker rooms in the
Nielsen Center and is open from 2:45-6:15 M-F during the

of two certified athletic trainers. They work closely
