Houghton College provides a shuttle service to and from the Buffalo (BUF), and sometimes Rochester (ROC) airports. There is a regular shuttle service to the Buffalo airport before and after the college dorms close for school breaks. The shuttle costs $10 and students must sign up ahead of time. View the Airport Shuttle to find out more information on days, times, and other details.
Students may also schedule a private shuttle to either the Buffalo or Rochester airports. The cost is $80 each way and reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance, although preferably a week ahead of time. Contact Kim Cockle in the Student Life Office at 585-567-9220 to arrange a private shuttle or to sign up for an existing one.
Getting around Houghton
Getting around Houghton is relatively easy, as everything is within walking distance. However, with no convenient public transportation, getting outside Houghton can be slightly more challenging. Fortunately, many options are available to students who arrive without a vehicle. Students looking to go shopping, see a movie, or just get out of town can catch a ride with friends, their host family, or the occasional shopping trip planned by the Intercultural Student Programs Office.
The Intercultural Student Programs Office also works with international and TCK students to help them get their New York State driver's license. For more details visit the information page for NY Driver's License.
