Interconnect Arrival Information

The fall 2013 Interconnect program officially begins on Sunday, August 25 at 6:30 pm.  Students, however, are requested to arrive to campus no later than 3:00 p.m. in order to check in at the Welcome Desk in the Campus Center.

While cost and distance often prohibit international parents from joining their son or daughter on their arrival to college, parents are welcome to arrive with their child and to join us for the dessert reception at 6:30 p.m. in JAVA 101.  It is important, however, to note that after the reception students will be fully occupied with the inter.connect program and will be unable to spend time with their parents.  While it can be a difficult transition for parents, due to the nature of the program, it works better for students to transition away from family and into college at the beginning of the week.  Parents who come are suggested to arrive before Sunday and to consider a Monday morning departure.

Arriving by Car

Intercultural students who have arranged private transportation to campus should arrive no later than 3:00 p.m. on Sunday the 25th in order to get your room assignment and put your stuff away. You may arrive as early as 12:00 noon on Saturday the 24th.

Arriving by Air

All students arriving by air should arrange their flights to arrive at Buffalo International Airport (BUF).  If it will save you a significant amount of money, Rochester International Airport (ROC) may also be used, but BUF is strongly preferred and is usually cheaper. Students needing to be picked up at the airport should plan to arrive on Saturday, August 24, and must email your complete flight itinerary to Kim Cockle no later than August 9th.

NOTE: You may be required to wait at the airport, depending on what times other students will be arriving. You will be notified by email before you depart if this will be the case.

Arrival Costs

Although the Interconnect program is free, there are additional costs for airport pickups and for any Saturday meals. The fee for an airport pickup on Saturday the 24th will be $40 per person. Please have this ready in the form of cash or check (drawn on a U.S. bank) when you arrive. Students needing an airport pickup on Sunday the 25th will be charged $80 per person. No transportation will be arranged prior to the 24th or after the 25th, except for extenuating circumstances.

Students arriving on Saturday are responsible for their own meal costs. Beginning Sunday all student meals will be paid for. No students will be admitted into the dorms before 12:00 noon on Saturday, Aug 24.

Please contact Kim Cockle with any questions you may have.
