Interconnect Arrival Information
The fall 2017 Interconnect program officially begins on Monday, August 21 at 6:00 pm. Students, however, are requested to arrive on campus no later than 4:00 p.m. in order to check in at the Welcome Desk in the Campus Center.
While cost and distance often prohibit international parents from joining their son or daughter on their arrival to college, parents are welcome to arrive with their child and to join us for the dessert reception at 6:30 p.m. It is important, however, to note that after the reception students will be fully occupied with the interconnect program and will be unable to spend time with their parents. While it can be a difficult transition for parents, due to the nature of the program, it works better for students to transition away from family and into college at the beginning of the week. Parents who come are suggested to arrange their departure for Monday evening or Tuesday morning. Parents will also need to arrange their own accommodations.
Arriving by Car
Intercultural students who have arranged private transportation to campus should arrive no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday the 21st in order to get your room assignment and put your stuff away. You may arrive as early as 1:00 p.m. on Sunday the 20th.
Arriving by Air
All students arriving by air should arrange their flights to arrive at Buffalo International Airport (BUF) before 3 p.m. Students needing to be picked up at the airport should plan to arrive on Monday, August 21, and must email your complete flight itinerary to Kim Cockle no later than August 7th. If a Monday arrival is not possible, you may arrange to arrive on Sunday, August 20.
NOTE: You may be required to wait at the airport, depending on what times other students will be arriving. You will be notified by email what time to expect and meet up with the driver.
Although the Interconnect program is free, there are additional costs for airport pickups and for any Sunday meals. The fee for an airport pickup on Sunday the 20th will be $100 USD. Please have this ready in the form of cash or check (drawn on a U.S. bank) when you arrive. Students needing an airport pickup on Monday the 21st will be not be charged if you arrive at the Buffalo Airport by 3:00 p.m. No transportation will be arranged prior to the 20th or after the 21st, except for extenuating circumstances.
Students arriving on Sunday are responsible for their own meal costs. Beginning Monday all student meals will be paid for. No students will be admitted into the dorms before 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug 20.
Please contact Kim Cockle with any questions you may have.
