The Role of Event Planning Committee

Each Residence Area at Houghton College has its own unique spirit and identity. The Event Planning Committee (EPC) is a student-run organization that exists in each residence to promote community through fun events, area traditions and programs designed to create a meaningful experience for our residential students. The Resident Directors serve as advisors for the EPCs as they plan area activities such as:

  • a campus-wide Treasure Hunt
  • hall Olympics
  • Thanksgiving Dinners
  • a night enjoying desserts and conversation while listening to Frank Sinatra

The EPC normally consists of a President, Vice-President/Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications Director. The EPC is open for sophomores, juniors, and seniors within the Residence Area to serve on and is a great way for students to get involved in campus life.

Each hall also has at least one Chaplain who implements spiritual programming in the hall and on campus.
