Houghton Students Present Research at National Conference

February 2, 2022

In November, Micah Condie ’23 and Adam Brown ’23 traveled to the American Physical Society Division of Plasma Physics meeting along with Professor of Physics, Dr. Mark Yuly, to present their research in inertial confinement fusion. In February, they will travel to Livermore, CA to the National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Lab to present their work at the NIF User meeting. The APS meeting is the largest plasma physics meeting in the world, and the NIF is the largest laser laboratory in the world.

In Houghton’s Physics Major, students participate in a research project lasting five semesters.  Students often go on to present their research at a conference. Most often these are regional physics conferences, but Brown and Condie had the unique opportunity to present their findings at a national level while still undergraduate students.
