Houghton Adds Two Faculty Members to Electrical Engineering ProgramĀ

Houghton University welcomes two new assistant professors to the Electrical Engineering program: Dr. Katherine Zhao and Dr. Ki Shin.Ā Ā 

Dr. Katherine Zhao received her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, in August 2019.ā€ÆShe is now completing a post-doctoral assignment in Texas.ā€ÆPrior to beginning her doctoral studies, she worked in the industry and served as an instructor at another undergraduate institution.

Dr. Zhao writes,ā€œI am excited to start my dream career at Houghton University and I cannot wait to help guide each of my students towards their own brilliant futures.ā€Ā 

Dr. Ki Shin received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2014.ā€ÆHe had previously worked for 11 years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and LG Electronics. Dr. Shin is coming to us from On Semiconductor, where he served as a Principal RF Design Engineer.ā€Æ

ā€œI am excited for this great opportunity to help engineering students grow together in Houghton,” says Dr. Shin. “I look forward to contributing my industry experience and educational backgrounds for the new engineering program.ā€Ā
