Princeton Review Names Houghton a ‘Best in the Northeast’

September 3, 2018

Houghton University was recently named one of the Best Colleges: Region by Region – Northeast by The Princeton Review, a leading authority on college preparation.

A total of 660 institutions from the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West, and International areas made the 2019 Best Colleges: Region by Region listing. Princeton Review selected approximately 25 percent of all colleges and universities in the country for inclusion, with only 225 making the cut for the Northeast category.

Houghton received high marks in the category of academics, with a score of 89 out of 99 in the “professor accessible rating” and an overall academic rating of 86 out of 99. Of the 142 Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) governing and associate member schools, Houghton was one of four colleges included in the Northeast designation and one of 32 in the full Region by Region listing. Houghton also joined six other Western New York Consortium of Higher Education institutions on the Northeast list.

The Princeton Review included colleges that it considers “academically outstanding and well worth consideration in your college search” for each of the regions. Additionally, surveys were collected from students at the included institutions, with 80 questions covering sections on what students think of their school’s academics/administration, life at their college, their fellow students, and themselves.

The Princeton Review is an education services company known for its tutoring, test-prep courses, books, and other student resources.
