Students Volunteer at LECOM Harborcenter

March 24, 2023

Recently, three sport, recreation, and wellness students, Samuel Bonisteel ‘26, Pedro Cruz Mundo ‘25, and David Rosa ’25, volunteered at the New York State Boys Ice Hockey Championships, hosted by the LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. The students were accompanied by Kaiden Bowers, assistant professor of sport, recreation, and wellness.

For both days of the tournament, the students assisted with all gameday operations. They acted as team liaisons, prepared and maintained the hospitality suite for event staff, and helped award presentations at the end of the tournament.

“It was a great experience for these students to see how a large event is run effectively and begin making connections within the world of sport administration,” shared Bowers. “I was incredibly proud of how the guys were eager to learn and be involved in many different aspects of the event. By day two, they were taking initiative and running game operations on their own.”
