Homecoming and Family Weekend 2018

September 26, 2018

Houghton University welcomes alumni, families, and the public to campus on Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6 for Homecoming and Family Weekend 2018.

The weekend festivities begin on Friday morning with the Legacy Chapel, which honors the accomplishments of Houghton alumni from around the world. Alumni awards, including the Alum of the Year and Young Alum of the Year, will be presented. Later that evening, the Greatbatch School of Music ensembles take to the stage to showcase the talent and dedication of student and faculty musicians.

Saturday’s events begin with the Purple/Gold 5K, a student government sponsored event that raises money for its annual Turkey Drive that provides Thanksgiving turkeys to families across Allegany County. A celebration and dedication ceremony will begin in the Paine Center for Science at 9:00 a.m.

Later that morning, all are invited to participate in the bagpipe parade to the Kerr-Pegula Athletic Complex where the Greatbatch School of Music Drumline will kick off the Homecoming festival. This year’s festival will provide guests with the opportunity to engage in interactive activities with academic departments, student organizations, and athletic teams. Highlights of the festival will include Mr. No the Balloon Guy, photo booths, “Animals of Alaska” exhibit, and more.

In addition, Houghton athletic teams will compete throughout the day on Saturday.

Alumni will gather throughout the weekend for reunion celebrations.
