Off Campus Housing Application

A Off Campus Housing option (formerly known as a CLO) is an off campus housing privilege within the hamlet of Houghton and some surrounding areas; approved students are responsible for securing their own rental contracts. As this is a competitive process, all requests are not guaranteed to be approved. Students should not make any off campus housing arrangements or sign a lease until they have received final approval from the College. Making premature arrangements does not ensure approval. Students living in a off campus housing agreement are still expected to abide by Houghton policies.

The application process for off-campus approval occurs each year in January and February for the following academic year. Typically only students who have earned 90 or more credits are granted approval. Students do not need to apply for CLO status during the semester in which they are student teaching. Please email housing@houghton.edu with questions.

The Off Campus Housing Application is now open through January 28, 2022 for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Off Campus Housing Application

  • Your class as of the start of this spring. You must be a junior or senior to be eligible for a CLO.
  • The meal plan you would like if you are approved for CLO.
  • Terms you are applying for in the upcoming academic year. You do not need to apply for a CLO for the semester that you are student teaching.
  • If your situation was not represented above, please let us know what your housing plans are for the semester when you are not requesting a Off-Campus Housing status.
    Your answer to this helps our Housing office to know whether you meet our residency requirements.
