Robert Black

Dr. Black joined the Houghton Business and Economics faculty in 1991. He teaches economic principles, managerial economics, money and banking, and statistics. He has traveled and lectured on six different occasions in Russia. He has also been an expert witness in court cases involving human-capital valuations. On campus, he has served on the Curriculum Review, Academic Policies, and Rank and Tenure Committees.

Dr. Black was a James Still Fellow (Summer 1989) in the Visiting Scholars Program, sponsored by the University of Kentucky and the Mellon Foundation. He held the Hoselton Chair of Private Enterprise & Ethics at Houghton from 1996-1999 and 1999-2002. He was also invited to participate in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s 39th Central Bank Seminar, January 9-11, 1999.

Professionally Dr. Black is active in the American Economic Association, the Association of Christian Economists, and the Christian Business Faculty Association.
