Steve Strand has taught and administered in diverse cultural and urban settings. Since 2014 when Houghton College Buffalo opened, he has worked as a mentor, a teacher, and a resource for curriculum and project development. Steve serves with Buffalo’s resettlement agencies and providers as an advocate for newcomer communities in Buffalo. He has experience as a bilingual national consultant and in Central America with relief and development.
Steve appreciates the collaborative spirit in Buffalo, among schools, city leaders and agencies that work together for unity of purpose and good will for people of diverse perspectives, national origin, language and culture. He is married to Ruth Woolsey Strand who is employed by Jericho Road Community Health Center. He studied at Kalamazoo College and graduated from Houghton College 1981 with majors in Humanities and Sociology; he received a master’s degree from Asbury Seminary (1986). He is dedicated to guide Houghton College Buffalo to excel in offering high quality education for each student.
