SUMMARY:Junior Recital: Linden Foster\, organ
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, November 10\, at 8 pm\, Linden Foster presents his junior recital on the James Louder organ at Houghton Wesleyan Church. The recital opens with one of Bach’s “Great Eighteen Chorales”\, written towards the end of his life and featuring some of his finest organ works. Following this will be English composer Herbert Howells’ piece titled “Master Tallis’s Testament”. This piece pays homage to the legendary Tudor composer Thomas Tallis\, as well as Howells’ contemporary and mentor\, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Penultimately\, American composer Paul Manz’s “improvisation on Now Thank We All Our God” will be played with the hymn immediately following. The final piece on the program is Cèsar Franck’s “Pièce Héroïque”. This piece embodies the grand scale of the Romantic era and makes an excellent final piece to any organ recital. — Event Details: https://hub.houghton.edu/rsvp?id=383358
