Houghton College has hired Michael Blankenship as its new director of marketing and communications. Blankenship, a 2010 graduate of Houghton College, is a marketing and enrollment professional with eight years of higher education marketing experience and holds a master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications from St. Bonaventure University. He will be responsible for directing all marketing, public relations, social media and brand management at Houghton.
Prior to this position, Blankenship served as a content marketing specialist and marketing communications manager at Roberts Wesleyan College. He is currently the director of marketing for Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, N.Y.
“Michael brings with him not only a wealth of experience in marketing higher education but also the kind of creativity and data-consciousness that are essential in these challenging and changing days,” said Dr. Ken Schenck, Vice President for Planning and Innovation at Houghton College. “He is eager to see the Houghton story told in venues old and new and to be part of the innovation that lies ahead for us. He brings exactly the kind of professionalism, attention to process and flexibility that make for a successful director.”
Blankenship will transition into this role throughout the winter and will begin serving Houghton full time on April 20, 2020.
