Carmen McKell

Associate Professor of Data Science

Carmen McKell is an analytics practitioner and educator. With over thirty years of experience in the private sector, she has co-founded three analytics companies in healthcare, education and sports. She has also built a variety of research and non-profit organizations from the ground up. She was key in the development of the first Christian liberal arts data science program at Houghton University and was the visionary behind the Center for Data Science Analytics. Carmen is obsessed with the art and science of discovering new insights from data and she is excited to pass this knowledge along to the next generation.

Carmen is a believer in the “learn by doing” approach and has led students in a variety of experiential learning opportunities where students brought data science to life. She is a strong advocate for creating future servant leaders in the field of data science, especially those with integrity and the desire to use data for good. With the Center for Data Science Analytics as a collaboration hub, she is passionate about building a diverse data science community, bringing together interdisciplinary teams of students, faculty, staff, industry, and alumni.
