Marc Smithers is a graduate of the Houghton College Class of 2008, in which he majored in political science, with minors in history, writing, and theology. Marc also has a master’s degree in higher education from Geneva College in Western PA. While at Houghton, he had the opportunity to serve as a resident assistant for two years, one in Shenawana Hall and one in the Leonard Houghton Townhouses. He has a great passion for working in the lives of young adults. After graduating, Marc worked for a year as a youth director at a United Methodist church outside of Buffalo, before coming back to Houghton to be a resident director in Rothenbuhler Hall for four years. Marc has been married to his wife Ailie, who also graduated from Houghton, since 2009. Marc and Ailie have a daughter, Greta, and a son, Foster.
