Instructor of Harp

Suzanne Thomas, principal harpist with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra since 1966, is a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she began her musical studies with Dorothy Knauss.

She received a Bachelor of Music and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where she was a student of Eileen Malone. Ms. Thomas continued her harp study at the Fontainebleau School in France and in 1973 was a prize winner in the International Harp Competition in Israel.

Currently, she devotes her time to performing orchestral and chamber music, and promoting the harp through teaching and master classes. Ms. Thomas teaches harp at Canisius College, State University College at Buffalo (Buffalo State College), and Brock University in Canada.
