Miller elected as Valedictorian of Tyndale Seminary’s 2021 Graduating Class

Houghton is proud to highlight the accomplishment of J.L. Miller, Associate Dean of the Chapel, Director of Strategic Partnerships, and Adjunct Professor of Youth Ministry, being recently selected by unanimous vote from the faculty of Tyndale Seminary as Valedictorian of the graduating class of 2021.

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) is the highest earned degree for the profession of ministry, intending to advance understanding of the nature and the purposes and practice of ministry, while enhancing ministry and leadership competencies. Tyndale Seminary is Canada’s largest graduate school of theology, representing 60 ethnic backgrounds and 40 different denominations, offering degrees at the master’s and doctoral levels.

“In making its selection, the faculty looks for a graduating student who exemplifies the best of what we hope our graduates will embody — ministry skills and competence, academic achievement, Christian character, and a passion for engaging the world with the gospel.,” stated Arnold Neufeldt-Fast, Vice President of Academics and Dean of Seminary. “J.L. is highly-regarded by the faculty and and his acceptance of this invitation is highly honoring.”

“I can’t imagine someone more deserving of this honor than J.L.  Tyndale is proud to point to him as an exemplary student, and we also are proud to point to him as an exemplary member of the Houghton community,” notes Michael Jordan, Dean of the Chapel. “He gives freely of his time and wisdom for students, always finding time to listen and respond thoughtfully and lovingly.  J.L. is a wonderful partner in imagining and casting a bold vision for spiritual life at Houghton, and it is wonderful to work with such a good friend.”
