New Student Orientation and Information

We are excited to welcome you to campus, albeit in a new reality!

We acknowledge the trying times we find ourselves in and also seek to make the most of our present circumstances.

Information for first-year and transfer student orientation during the fall of 2021 will be made available here as it becomes available. Please regularly monitor your email, this page, and the Welcome Weekend App for more updates.

9–10 am

Non-western New York residents (last name N-Z)

Information Fair
The Information Fair is a great place to accomplish a lot in one place! Find an on-campus job, get your college ID, find your Campus Post Office box, and more!


11 am - 1 pm

Lunch Available
Free for students with nametag, other pay at register


1 pm - 2 pm

Student Council Meet & Greet
For students: Come out and meet current Houghton students who are excited to serve and represent you this year!


1pm - 2pm

Supporting from Afar
Families will have a chance to hear about ways to support your students during their time at Houghton.

Wrap Up


2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

New Student Dedication Service
Celebrate our new students with our annual new student dedication culminating with a bagpipe processional around the Quad.


3:30 pm - 4:45 pm

Class Photo & Family Social
New students gather for a class photo and enjoy refreshments before saying goodbyes to family and friends.


By 5 pm

Families depart following social as students head to dinner with their classmates and start their Houghton journey.
