Houghton Librarian Receives National Scholarship

February 27, 2023

Doyin Adenuga, librarian of electronic resources, reference and instruction at Houghton University, has received a National Information Standards Organization (NISO) Plus scholarship. The scholarship recognizes candidates whose voices have been underrepresented within libraries, publishers, and other informational communities.

“Seeing the scholarship opportunity [inspired] an interest in knowing more, and seeing how I can be involved in such an enormous endeavor,” Adenuga explained.

“In addition to being an excellent librarian and colleague, Doyin is active in the profession, attending and presenting for conferences,” said David Stevick, director of libraries and information resources. Stevick sincerely noted that bringing Adenuga onto the team six years ago was “one of the best actions [he had] taken as library director at Houghton University.”

Recipients of the NISO Plus scholarship are given three years of free NISO webinars, opportunities for volunteering, access to committees and groups within the organization, and free access to the NISO Plus conference in February. The conference provides further opportunities for people from all over the world to converse on shared experiences and productive next steps. Adenuga sees the 2023 conference as an opportunity to learn and meet experienced professionals within the area of library digital services.

We congratulate Doyin Adenuga on this incredible achievement!
