    Please note that the vast majority of student positions are circulation in either the main or music library.

  • Public Services

    Circulation:  checking materials in and out, shelving and shelf-reading materials (keeping materials in order on the shelves), processing books, recycling books/periodicals, shifting books/periodicals, working with patrons. (Day, evening, and weekend hours; number of hours varies per person)

    Interlibrary loan: receive and open materials requested for faculty, staff & students; enter data on the computer; notify our patrons of received materials and package borrowed materials for return to lending institutions. (Number of hours varies with regard to item demand)

    Music library:  checking materials in and out, assisting patrons in finding materials, shelving music items, shelf-reading projects. Knowledge of music (even minimal) is helpful. (Day, evening, and weekend hours; number of hours varies per person)

  • Technical Services

    (Getting items ready for Circulation)

    Acquisitions/office:  entering bibliographic data, receiving and loading orders into our acquisitions software, processing shipments, filing and other general office duties assigned by supervisor. (approximately 4 hours per week)

    Mending books:  repairing torn pages and replacing spines and covers of worn books. (approximately 4 hours per week)

    Processing materials:  for circulation (applying date due slips, treating materials for security system, embossing, etc.); creating call number labels and item records on the computer. (approximately 5 hours per week)
