Dear Houghton Alumni,
Like you, we have excitedly been looking toward summer with hopes of seeing you and celebrating your class reunion here on campus. Hosting our alumni on campus is a profound joy and one we have been especially anticipating this year after the months of isolation and social distancing.
Unfortunately, the ongoing uncertainty around our ability to provide a deeply meaningful and enjoyable reunion experience for you and fellow alumni has resulted in the difficult decision to forego an in-person reunion once again this summer. This decision was not made lightly, and was made given the significant uncertainty surrounding New York State's ongoing COVID-19 regulations, particularly as relates to testing, on-going masking, social distancing rules and our inability to host overnight guests. We want your reunion experience to be full of hugs with old friends, recognizable smiles and the kind of deeply relational community building that is a hallmark of the Houghton experience. We simply are not able to offer the kind of reunion we know you and your fellow alumni desire.
Please continue to pray with us for an end of the pandemic and the disappointing realities it has brought for so many. We look forward to welcoming you back to campus when we are able to do so in an enriching and fulfilling way. We are grateful for your continued support and understanding through these challenging times.
