Created in 2000 in honor of Leamon & Katheryn Betts and the Reverend Clarence & Florence Betts, this fund provides scholarships to students who transfer from community college or a student majoring in either music or ministry fields.

The Carolyn Corse ’74 and James Carr Music Scholarship was created in 2022 by to provide scholarships to students who are actively engaged in music at Houghton University. This could be academically, but could also be expressed in leading worship on or off campus, and/or participating in a musical group/ensemble.

Created in 1992, this fund supports music students with demonstrable financial need who show great promise.

Created in 1999 in memory of Dr. Charles Finney, long time Houghton College professor of music, this endowment provides scholarships to students majoring in organ, church music or other music fields.

The Clint A. Clifford Scholarship was established in 1998 by a Houghton alumna in honor of her father who sacrificed greatly to provide her with a Houghton education. She was a life-long music educator, last serving as chair of the music department at Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students with demonstrable need, preference given to a student pursuing a degree in music education who maintains a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Created in 1971 in memory of Dorothy Yahn Walrath, this fund supports a student organist with demonstrable financial need who is preparing for church work or a college professorship.

This scholarship was created in 2008 in memory of Dr. George Seher ’60 to support juniors or seniors with demonstrable financial need majoring in pre-med or music.

Created in 1999, the Dr. and Mrs. De Vere Gallup Scholarship supports the needs of students majoring in music or the sciences.

Created to honor the legacy of music educator and proprietress of Yorkwood House, alumna Marilyn York ’47, this fund provides scholarships for music students.

Established in 2021 in memory of Dr. Mimi Hwang, the scholarship supports a vocal major, with preference given to a graduate of Houghton Academy and/or a student currently residing in Asia.

Created in memory of Professor John Andrews, Sr., a long-time Houghton College music professor. This fund supports students majoring in music, with a preference for those studying string instruments.

Created in memory of alumnus Robert Mackenzie ’60, to support scholarships for sophomore, junior or senior music majors recommended by the faculty based on merit, who exhibit the musical talent, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Mr. Mackenzie.

The Edna Lennox Scholarship was created to honor Edna Lennox, who was a long-time Houghton professor and head of the Speech Department, to provide scholarships for communication majors maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA who have demonstrable financial need.

Established in 2021 in memory of long-time Houghton professor Edward Willett. First preference is given to a Junior or Senior majoring in business with a GPA of at least 3.0.

Created in 1985, this fund supports scholarships for junior or senior business majors who demonstrate a sincere Christian commitment.

Established in 2006, the Janet Decker Steiner Scholarship provides financial aid to students in good academic standing who are majoring in business, accounting, or IT.

The Ruth L. Bergen Scholarship Fund in Memory of John Bergen was created in 2007 to benefit students majoring in business who are from the Western New York region.

The William A. Chapin Scholarship was established in 2023 in memory of Bill Chapin ’65, to support business and accounting students.

Established to honor George Wells’ long-time commitment to Houghton students—both in their athletic endeavors and in their faith journey. The recipient should demonstrate a vibrant Christian commitment in their life and actions. Preference is given to upperclassmen and to students majoring in Physical Education.

Established in 2024 in memory of Grace (Bagley ’61) Snyder and Donald E. Bagley ’56. The award celebrates both Don’s and Grace’s lifelong commitments to education and serving students in challenging contexts, and provides financial aid for education majors.

Established in 2019, the Houghton Family Scholarship supports the studies of education majors planning to teach in public school or students planning to pursue full-time missions’ careers.

Established in 2004 in memory of alumna Jennifer (Roorda ’00) Hale, this fund provides scholarships to psychology majors who intend to work with children and who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The Joan Carol Van Grouw Holman Scholarship was created in 1993 to provide scholarship funds to worthy education majors displaying academic potential.

Created in 2020 with first preference for students in financial need who are enrolled in the elementary education program.

The Lucele Hatch Wilson Scholarships was created in 1991 in memory of Lucele (Hatch ’31) Wilson, to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students preparing for a career in education.

This fund was established in 2022 in memory of Marian Esther, a teacher. First preference is for a student who is an education major.

Established in 2012 in memory of alumna Marjorie (Wolhgemuth ’58) Campbell to provide scholarships for education majors maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA with demonstrable financial need.

Created in 2019 in honor of Houghton professor of mathematics Dr. Wei Hu, this fund provides scholarships to computer or data science majors demonstrating interest in co-curricular learning opportunities similar to MANRRS.

Scholarship was created in 2025 in memory of long-time Houghton physics professor Dr. Duane Saufley. The scholarship provides financial aid for students majoring in physics or chemistry related fields.

Established in 2020 to provide financial assistance to students planning to pursue a career in Education, Pastoral Ministry, or in a STEM Field.

Established in 2023 this fund honors Fred and his wife Valerie, who served at Houghton from 1969 to 1998 where Fred was a faculty member. The award is for a student who demonstrates financial need, is in good academic standing, and has been recommended by faculty from the physics or computer science department.

Created in 2019 to honor Gail Wooster Bagley. The scholarship provides resources to students majoring in science fields with demonstrable financial need.

The fund was established in 2023 in memory of Wesley ’37 and June (Austin ’40) Churchill. The award is given to juniors or seniors majoring in the physical sciences with preference for a physics major. A student's demonstrated financial need, community involvement, academic promise and a vision for public service, community involvement, or national or international missions is considered.

Created in 1964 in memory of Alice Mary Baker Hazlett. The scholarship provides educational opportunities at Houghton to students of unusual promise and ability, with preference for English majors who intend to enter the English teaching profession and who are in good academic standing.

The Bernice Fish Scholarship supports the studies of students majoring in ministry or missions.
