The Houghton University Student Health Center exists in order to enhance the overall mission of the college by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning and personal development through the provision of high-quality health care and the promotion of general wellness in an environment that honors God and reflects Christ’s model of love, compassion, and humility.

Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

All appointments will need to be scheduled by phone or email.

Location: Gillette Hall Basement
Enter from the parking lot between Gillette Hall and the Campus Center.

After Hours Care

When the health center is closed:

  1. For emergencies, call 911
  2. For urgent issues that cannot wait until the health center is open, several urgent care and ER facilities are available.
    The two closest are:
    Cuba Urgent Care (25 min)
    Warsaw Hospital (WCCH) Emergency Room (35 min)
  3. For other after hours questions/assistance or if you have tested positive for COVID-19, Contact the RD on duty at the number posted in each residence hall.

Watch for symptoms

For 10 days

Wear a mask

Around others for 10 days; KN95 masks are available in the Health Center lobby

Test

5 days after exposure (or sooner if you have symptoms), If positive, follow instructions below and isolation guidance

Play it safe

Take extra precautions for 10 days when around people more likely to get very sick

Did you test positive for COVID-19?

Wear a mask

Continue to wear a mask for 10 days

Move to isolation

Call the Student life Office 585-567-9220 or RD on-duty for help moving to an isolation space, preferably off-campus.

Nursing Services

  • Illness evaluation
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Immunization administration
  • Allergy injections
  • Screening eye exams
  • Rapid Glucose Test
  • Urinalysis
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Rapid Strep tests

Physician Services:

by appointment only

  • Medical consultation/treatment
  • Sports physicals
  • Physicals for job related requirements
  • Travel Consultation

Lab services:

with a physician order

  • Blood draws and other lab service for offsite lab testing through Quest Diagnostics

Other Services:

  • Medication delivery from local pharmacy
    NOTE:  payment for medications (cash, credit card, or check) is due at time of pickup
  • Short term loan of certain equipment (e.g. crutches)
  • Self care center offers small quantities of over-the-counter medications for common symptom
  • Wellness Room – a quiet restorative space to relax
