Welcome to the Houghton Community

Meet your student’s #1 champion: Houghton's International Student Coordinator leads Interconnect, an orientation program specially designed to help international students transition to the U.S. educational system and culture. The coordinator also works throughout the school year to connect international students to each other and the wider student body.

Did you know?

Upon completion of their studies, students on an F-1 student visa, can apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training).  This is a 12-month work visa. Employment must be directly related to the student's major field of study and can be anywhere in the U.S.

Financial Aid

As International students do not qualify for U.S. federal student loans and aid (FAFSA), it is recommended they check with the education department of your home country to see if student loans are offered for study outside of the country.

International students can work on campus and there are plenty of student jobs. This s a great way to earn extra money . As well,  students can arrange with the Student Payroll office to keep part of their bi-weekly earnings and  have part go directly towards their bill.
