The Houghton chapter of Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, recently welcomed eight new members into its ranks.

This year’s inductees are: Marcus Betzer of New Columbia, PA; Eliana Craft of York, PA; Anna Hardiman of Potsdam, NY; Casidhe Heschke of Gasport, NY; Michelle Miller of Rushford, NY; Abigail Naylor of Millersburg, PA; Hannah Pender of Fairport, NY; and Andrada Tuduc of North Collins, NY.

Psychology professor Änna Pettway, advisor of the Psi Chi chapter at Houghton, said the eight new inductees have completed their coursework with excellence, maintaining impressive GPAs in both their psychology courses and other academic work.

“I’m excited to see what these students will contribute to the program,” she said, “especially as we seek to raise awareness and promote mental health and wellness on campus.”

Psi Chi is the world’s largest student psychological organization, with more than 750,000 members around the globe. They seek to recognize and promote excellence in the science and application of psychology.

Since its founding in 1929, Psi Chi has grown into one of the largest and most successful honor societies in the world, boasting more than 1,000 chapters. Many members have gone on to distinguished careers in psychology, and are now renowned research authors, professors, and practitioners.
