Alumna Receives the L.O.U.I.E. Award

November 17, 2022

The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce is recognizing Houghton alumna and Board of Trustees secretary, Karen Fohl ’95, with their annual L.O.U.I.E. award. L.O.U.I.E. stands for “Love of Olean United in Enterprise.” Named in memory of Louis Marra, who was a well-known Olean entrepreneur, this award is given to a community member who represents an enterprising spirit and other exceptional qualities that contribute to life in the Olean area.

Fohl has demonstrated her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to constantly improving her community within her personal and professional life. After graduating from Houghton, she has made meaningful impacts working at the Olean General Hospital (OGH) and the OGH Foundation. In these positions, she led major fundraising campaigns, created the hospital’s Planned Giving Program, and organized other large campaigns. She has also demonstrated her love for the Olean area by volunteering for various boards and committees like the Olean Business Institute, Olean Planning Board, and many others.

Fohl was recognized on November 3rd at the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. Congratulations to Fohl on this impressive accomplishment.
