Writing Center

Writing Center

Beginning Week 3 (Monday, September 13), our friendly, trained peer consultants will be available in person (Chamberlain Center 107, part of the Center for Student Success - the middle/conference room) as well as virtually, for a maximum of 40 minutes per session (leaving 5 minutes between sessions), by Zoom.

For assistance during the first two weeks of classes, please email Prof. Dashnau, Director of the Writing Center, at Laurie.Dashnau@Houghton.edu

Although we are not a proofreading service, we are eager to ask questions, listen well, and provide advice and resources to help students identify areas for improvement as well as provide encouragement.

Furthermore, we are eager to provide assistance during any stage (or multiple stages) of the writing process: topic selection, brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, or editing.

Our email address is writingcenter@houghton.edu (please note the lack of a dot in the first half of the address). This is one way beyond screen sharing that papers, essay prompts, and other materials can be reviewed.
