Houghton Wind Ensemble to Host Fall Concert

October 21, 2021

Houghton University’s Greatbatch School of Music will host their fall Wind Ensemble Concert entitled, “Olympic Hosts” at the end of October. This concert will take place on Friday, October 29th, 2021 in the Wesley Chapel at 7:30 pm.

This concert is inspired by the recent and upcoming hosts of the summer Olympics. Each country, China, Japan, Australia, France, Brazil, England and the United States, is represented by a composer from that country. Houghton’s Composition Professor, Carrie Magin‘s performance of Into Twilight, which premiered at the Inauguration Concert of Dr. Wayne Lewis on October 1, is of special interest to the concert. The concert is tied together with a performance of John Williams’ Olympic Fanfare and Theme and Sousa’s Hands Across the Sea March.
