Inclusive Adolescence Education 

BA (48 hours; 24 co-requisite hours)

This major prepares candidates to teach students with disabilities at the secondary level (grades seven through 12) across the content areas and leads to the Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist certificate.   This major includes 24 co-requisite hours in the core content areas, which students must complete with final course grades of C or better. Grades for these 24 hours must be C or higher to satisfy New York State requirements. The major includes a minimum of 100 hours of field experience which must be completed prior to student teaching; that field experience is linked to education courses including (but not limited to ) the following: EDUC 235, EDUC 240, and EDUC 33X.

Students wishing to earn an additional teaching certificate at the secondary level may complete a second major in one of the following areas: augmented history (for social studies), biology, chemistry, English, mathematics, physics, or Spanish.  Students pursuing dual-certification at the secondary level will complete a minimum of 150 hours of field experience which must be completed prior to student teaching; that field experience is linked to education courses including (but not limited to) the following: EDUC 235, EDUC 240, and EDUC 33X.
