HIST 299 Historical and Political Research

In this course, gain the skills needed for research and writing within the humanities and humanistic social science. You'll learn to identify arguments in literature, analyze sources, construct your own argument, and assess methodologies. At the end, you'll present your own argument and provide feedback to your peers.

HIST 362 Recent American History, 1918 to Present

Explore modern America from World War I to the present. In this course you'll look at the political, economic, diplomatic, and social aspects of the period. Topics include the Great Depression, World War II, origins of the Cold War, the civil rights struggle, the womenโ€™s movement, student revolts, Vietnam, Watergate, the end of the Cold War, the impact of 9/11 and globalization.

HIST 370 Evangelical Roots

In this course, you'll examine Evangelicalism from its roots in the 17th -century Reformation to the present. You'll focus on Britain and America, where most of the movements originated and developed. Themes include the Great Awakenings, the debate over slavery and abolition, the Social Gospel, Fundamentalism, and the importance of trans-denominational networks in the 20th century. You'll also explore developments outside the Anglophone West. This includes more recent leaders in the global church, African, Asian, and Latin American churches.
