Joel Ernst

Hello, my name is Joel Ernst, and I am excited to serve as this year's student body president. Part of my job as SGA president is to cast a vision for our student body for this year. As we embark on the 2012-2013 year for Houghton College, our vision as the SGA is to promote spiritual growth, service and outreach, and student unity. My desire is to look back on this year and see our student body closer to Christ, making a greater impact on our surrounding community, and standing in stronger unity together. Please join the SGA in reaching this goal!

Another part of my job as SGA president is to represent your interests and concerns to administrators, faculty, and our college's Board of Trustees. I will work hard to be a good representative on your behalf. If there are major issues of concern for the student body, I encourage you to communicate with your senators, who are elected to represent you in the SGA Senate. If the Senate takes action on behalf of student concerns, and if I agree with the Senate's decision, I will work to carry out the directives of the Senate.
