Communication

Recognize, Analyze & Create

Develop your abilities to create and present clear and concise messages while viewing the interactions among language, technology and images in new ways.

Why Communication at Houghton?

Houghton’s Communication major is one of the largest programs at the college and with good reason. In a fast-paced, media-saturated society awash with information, the ability to create and present clear and concise messages has never been more important.

Flexible Curriculum

The Communication major is built around a core set of classes that provides students with both the theoretical understanding and the applied skills they will need whatever their career. From there, Communication majors go on to study in one of three areas of concentration.

Prepare for your future

Whether one seeks a career in broadcasting, journalism, public relations, advertising, government service, community development, law, business, teaching or the ministry, the ability to create and present clear and concise messages has never been more important.

Experienced faculty

Led by accessible faculty members with years of professional experience, communication at Houghton is an interdisciplinary program that helps students become competent communicators.
